Conservative chairman Grant Shapps kick-started the Harrow general election campaign on a visit to the borough yesterday.

Mr Shapps revealed that Councillor Hannah David will be the party’s MP candidate for Harrow West during the launch at International Siddhashram Shakti Centre in Palmerston Roadmet.

Grant Shapps said: “I know that Conservative values appeal to people who work hard and play by the rules. That’s a message which is popular with communities of every background and in all parts of Britain.

“The launch of our very first target seat campaign at the Siddhashram Shakti Centre here in Harrow is just the first of our conversations with people up and down the country in which we'll be saying – the conservatives share your values.”

The Harrow West seat, which has a narrow 3,000 Labour majority at present, was chosen as the very first of 40 seats to be targeted by the Conservative Party at the next election.
