Some 35 years after their major chart breakthrough, Shalamar are coming to Watford Colosseum on Sunday, May 26.

Shalamar are one of the most successful soul groups of all time selling 25 million albums worldwide. Formed in 1976 to be part of TV’s American Soul Train, the band enjoyed their first hit single in 1976 with the Motown inspired medley Uptown Festival. This cemented the band’s reputation as stars in their own right and a recording career beckoned. The underground soul club hits continued, and in 1978 the band released Take That To The Bank. In 1982, the whole world fell under the spell of Shalamar with the release of the Friends, and in particular, A Night to Remember. This album sold over a million copies in the UK and the hits continued, including There It Is and I Can Make You Feel Good.

Fast forward 35 years and the band, still with original members Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewitt alongside Carolyn Griffey, continue to thrill audiences all over the world with their stage show.

“A Shalamar concert is a giant party,” says Jeffrey Daniel. “From the moment we step on stage to the moment we finish the audience becomes part of the show, they’re up on their feet dancing and singing along!”

Expect to hear all the big hits including There It Is, I Can Make You Feel Good, 2nd Time Around, Take That To The Bank, Make That Move, Dead Giveaway, Right In The Socket and A Night To Remember.

Shalamar will be joined by special guest Natasha Watts, an award-winning UK soul singer who recently picked up the 2018 Brightstar Awards for Best UK Female Artiste.
