A camera club’s first every Salon of Photography attracted more than 500 entries from the UK and overseas including Australia.

Watford Camera Club recently announced the winners of the online photo competition that was open to anyone who uses a camera, wherever they live, by submitting a digital.

The Gold Medal in the under 18 classification went to Watford based Megan Chapman for her image, Hard at Work. Joseph Harrow based photographer Dave Martin won both the Gold Medal and the best Monochrome image classification for his image Brighton Old West Pier.

Harrow Times:

Competition judge Micki Aston, said that the winning image is “the best photo I’ve seen of the West Pier ever”. Commending the overall standard of entries Micki went on to say: “In 19 year’s of judging, this is the most difficult competition I’ve had to judge. The overall standard is phenomenal.” She went on to say that “any one of 12 images could have won the overall competition”.

Watford Camera Club President Terri Adcock says: “The camera club would like to thank all of you who participated, regardless of whether or not your images were accepted”. Terri added how pleased she was with both the quality of the entries and the number of entries before going on to say: “We were particularly pleased to receive entries for the Junior section and we hope that this will inspire younger photographers to continue taking images and so begin a lifetime of enjoyment in what is a fascinating recreation.”

The club will be making a donation from the entry fee profits to The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
