Have your say on the future of Harrow

Harrow Council has extended the public consultation period for its Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy document until 17:00 Friday 15 January 2010. The LDF is the new planning process that will guide and manage development within Harrow. It says that the population of Harrow will increase between now and 2025 and sets out a plan to accommodate this by more development in housing, offices, businesses, retail outlets and industry.

The plan proposes an “Intensification Area” of Harrow town centre, Wealdstone and the Station Road “corridor” between. Harrow will see increased housing, offices, businesses and retail outlets while Wealdstone will see mixed housing of generally higher density, industry and possible waste management.

We believe the document does not address the substantial increases in commercial and industrial vehicles using various routes through our wards to get to Wealdstone industrial zone. This will inevitably affect the roads of North Harrow much more than those of neighbouring areas.

Further, residential developments are to be encouraged to provide the lowest possible number of parking spaces, exacerbating our already considerable problems with on-street parking.

You have until 17:00 Friday 15 January 2010 to register your objections and help save the future of our wards:
