Readers caught a glimpse of an iconic steam train as it passed through south west Hertfordshire on Tuesday evening.

The Flying Scotsman was ahead of schedule as it passed through Kings Langley station, Watford Junction and Bushey railway station shortly after 6pm.

People have since shared their snaps of the train with the Watford Observer.

Candice Seakins said: “I’m so glad I saw it as it was lovely.”

The train was built in Doncaster and first came into service on the London and North Eastern railway in 1923.

It ran the first daily service from London to Edinburgh, completing the run in eight hours.

The train was recently given a £4.2 million refurbishment and is running a tour programme this year.
