Firefighters were called to Watford General Hospital this morning to deal with flooding in a basement service tunnel.
One crew from Watford attended the hospital after receiving a report of flooding in the basement of the Shrodells Unit at around 9am.
The team pumped out approximately 40,000 litres of water from the basement into the storm drains, completing the job by midday.
It is believed that the excess water was not a result of weather conditions.
West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed there had been a “small problem” with the water supply in the tunnel, adding that it had now been fixed.
