A teenage boy had his phone and watch stolen in a mugging in South Oxhey.

The 13-year-old victim was walking along Green Lane at around 3.30pm on Monday, July 10, when he was approached by a teenager on a black pedal bike near the junction with Prestwick Road.

The cyclist grabbed the victim’s mobile phone before pushing him to the floor and taking his watch.

A passing cyclist chased down the suspect as he cycled off and managed to retrieve the victim’s phone, before another boy, aged around 11 years old, walked the victim home.

The suspect is described as white, aged 16 to 17 years old, around 5ft 10in tall, and of larger than average build.

He had short, flat brown hair and was wearing a blue and white striped T-shirt, shorts and trainers. He may have been carrying a rucksack and spoke with a local accent.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and would especially like to trace the two people who assisted the victim following the robbery.

Detective Constable Nicola Stewart, who is investigating, said: “Thankfully the boy was not injured during the incident but is understandably upset following his ordeal.

“I would like to trace the two people who came to his aid following the incident as they may have vital information which could assist our investigation. If this was you, please get in touch.

“I would also like to hear from anyone else who may have information about what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference C3/17/919.
