A new series of walking routes have been launched just in time for summer.

Hertfordshire County Council’s countryside management service (CMS) and Albury Parish Council have launched three walking routes – the Albury Walks – as the second in the series of Walking in Hertfordshire routes.

The 3 miles, 4.5 miles and 5.5 miles circular routes are marked and have an accompanying map and leaflet to make it as easy as possible to explore the rolling countryside near Bishop Stortford.

The council’s lead for the environment, Derrick Ashley, said: “The countryside around Albury is stunning and these new routes are a great resource for local people to explore further afield and enjoy the great outdoors.”

Members of the public were invited to take a stroll along the new walks as part of the launch, before being treated to a show of summer meadow flowers at Patmore Heath and a guide to the history of the village and surrounding area.
