Tom Cleverley is a doubt for the visit of Premier League champions Chelsea to Vicarage Road on Monday night.

The midfielder limped off with a hamstring injury in the second half of Wednesday’s 0-0 draw against Stoke City.

It was the second time in recent weeks Cleverley has succumb to injury, and Javi Gracia was unable to confirm if the former Manchester United man would recover in time for Watford’s net outing.

The head coach said: “In this moment I cannot explain how he is feeling. Today he did not train, tomorrow we'll see what we can do.

“As you know, he's an important player for us and we're trying to keep him in the best condition.”

Watford will be facing a selection headache should the worst case scenario occur and Cleverley is unable to feature against the Blues.

Ben Watson was released from his contract on deadline day, while Nathaniel Chalobah and Will Hughes are still not match fit.

With Didier Ndong serving a suspension for a red card picked up while with Sunderland, Gracia could well be left with precious few options in the centre of the park.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue are the only certainties to be available and Watford may have to depart from the three man central midfield they have favoured for much of the season.

Elsewhere, Heurelho Gomes is set to miss to clash as he continues to recover from a back injury and it is also too soon for Craig Cathcart and Younes Kaboul, despite the duo being back in training.
