Leicester City will discuss Marco Silva's name as a possible replacement for the sacked Craig Shakespeare, it is understood, although the Portuguese is understandably considered an outside shot for the managerial role at the King power Stadium.

The 40-year-old's stock has shot up after leading Watford to fourth place in the Premier League with eight games gone, cemented by masterminding a last-minue win over Arsenal at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

With that in mind, the Portuguese is already entering the thoughts of the likes of Leicester, whose board will meet today to discuss their next move and will mention his name.

But with such a good start under his belt and less than five months into a two-year contract with the club, he is likely to be considered an outside target.

Even aside from his great start at Vicarage Road, Silva would have serious questions over joining a fractured squad, sitting 18th in the Premier League and low on confidence.

Wales manager Chris Coleman is considered a more credible successor to Shakespeare, and betting has been suspended on the former Fulham boss becoming their next appointment with some bookmakers.

Sam Allardyce had been the early favourite to take over in the East Midlands but contractual obligations linked to his departure from Crystal Palace last summer look set to knock back any approach.
