Watford will host Championship side Bristol City in the Carabao Cup second round.

The Robins will visit Vicarage Road for the first time since 2014, when Beppe Sannino's side beat them 2-0 in an FA Cup Third Round replay.

The game will be played in the week commencing August 21st - and had briefly been forecast as being due to take place at Ashton Gate, as problems once again dogged the Carabao Cup draw as they had previously in the first round.

Watford have not qualified for the third round of the League Cup since that same season, having lost 3-2 at home to then Premier League Norwich in September 2013.

Last season, the Hornets were beaten 2-1 by Gillingham at Vicarage Road in the second round of the competition.

Bristol City qualified for round two by thrashing Plymouth Argyle 5-0 at Ashton Gate on Tuesday night.

They are managed by 36-year-old Lee Johnson, who spent two years at Watford as a youth player, when the club's academy was run by his father Gary, now manager at Cheltenham Town.
