CELEBRITIES have been raising money for ASPIRE, one of the country's leading spinal cord injury charities, by taking part in an annual cricket match at Mill Hill School Cricket ground in North London.

The match took place on Sunday and Bee Gees singer, Barry Gibb, raised a staggering £100,000 after auctioning a signed guitar.

He said: "I had a spinal injury a few years ago and I realized how life-changing it would have been if I had been paralysed so I am very sympathetic with ASPIRE's work."

Jenny Page of ASPIRE said: "The guitar should raise much urgently-needed funding to improve the quality of life for spinally injured people."

Other celebrities participating in the cricket match included pop phonemenon McFly's Harry Judd who said: "I am very happy to be supporting such a great charity such as ASPIRE".

Other celebrity players included rugby players Micheal Lineagh and Kyran Bracken, footballers Alan Smith and Paul Davis, boxer Lloyd Honeyghan, James Major, Fraser Hines from Emmerdale and Sky Sport commentator Miles Harrison.
