Parkfield and Headstone sink Old Cholmeleians

Parkfield and Headstone earned a five-wicket win over Old Cholmeleians in Herts Division Five.

Ian Schmid and Hemantha Warnpala opened the bowling with the former picking up three for 52.

Dipak Shah kept up the tight bowling, getting three for 36 as Old Cholmeleians were dismissed for 163 off 47.2 overs.

After tea, Jinesh Shah and Schmid opened put on an opening partnership of 50.

Schmid and Andrew Ward built on that with a partnership of 87 before the latter was trapped leg before on 27.

With only 30 odd to win, there was a bit of a wobble with both Wassem Saber and Raj Kanabar going cheaply. But Schmid produced a superb knock, hitting 75 which led them to victory.

Parkfield Seconds secured a first win of the season in Division Nine after a 60-run victory over Hatfield Seconds.

Having been put in, openers Graeme Ford and Rob French soon started the score moving.

Whilst wickets were falling, a swashbuckling innings by Ford of 80 saw Parkfield reach 188 all out off 52 overs.

With the pitch drying out, Nainesh Shah and Dilip Shah bowled tight opening spells yielding only 32 runs of 15 overs.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw with Hatfield on 87 for three before Dilip Shah’s stunning second spell.

His tempting flight and guile with the ball saw Shah take six for 24 as Hatfield were all out for 128.
