Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett remains hopeful Greg Ngoyi will be fit to return this weekend.

The Stones striker was forced off during Saturday's 3-0 win over Horsham after colliding with the visiting goalkeeper. He missed the 2-1 defeat at AFC Hornchurch on Monday but could yet return to the side when they host in-form Bury Town on Saturday.

Bartlett said: "Greg took a whack on the face and he has been for several check ups. He is going back tomorrow where we hope that he will be given the all-clear. He still has swelling around his eye but he is a possibility for the weekend."

Efforts from Ngoyi and Peter Dean (two) completed the routine win but the Stones were stung by a second-half comeback at Hornchurch. Scott Fitzgerald fired Wealdstone in front but a controversial penalty, given for handball, sparked the turnaround with two quick goals handing Hornchurch the points.

Bartlett said: "For 70 minutes we matched them and I thought we had the better of it. We were 1-0 up and their goalkeeper pulled off a couple of saves which kept them in it.

"The referee gave a rather strange penalty and it changed the game. It certainly looked soft from where I was and they took full advantage of it. It was a game where I didn't feel we were in any trouble and yet we ended up coming away with nothing."

Bury Town have won three of their first four league games and Bartlett expects them to be in the promotion shakeup at the end of the season.

The Stones boss said: "Bury Town have made a very good start to the season. They are a very good side and well fancied this year but then so are we. It will be another difficult game but every match is hard in this league."
