Harrow Borough striker Dewayne Clarke has given the club a boost by committing his future to the Ryman Premier side.
Boro's top goalscorer appeared to be on his way out of the club after off-field issues led to an argument with a team-mate following this month's defeat at Hendon.
But after a break, partly to rest his injured knee, Clarke reaffirmed his commitment to manager David Howell by scoring in their 2-1 home defeat to North Greenford United in the Middlesex Charity Cup on Tuesday.
Howell confirmed: "He said he wants to stay. He watched the game on Saturday which tells you something because he didn't have to do that.
"He has had a few issues away from football but I told him to go away and think about what he wants to do."
Boro face an injury crisis ahead of their home game against leaders Dartford on Saturday. Ryan Watts damaged his hamstring in the cup defeat and Gary Meakin hurt his achilles.
In addition, James Fraser has an ankle knock and Kwasi Frempong is suffering from a hamstring problem. Their injuries forced striker Rocky Baptiste to play in midfield during the game and Howell could be forced to bring in reserves this weekend.
He added: "It's disappointing that we have lost players with a big game coming up. I have to wait and see what we have available before I can even put together a game plan.
"It's the worst possible time to be playing the runaway leaders. They have been the most consistent of all the sides this season. But we have got a chance in all the games we play."
