Wealdstone stunned Leeds United after fighting back for a 2-1 win in front of their biggest crowd at Grosvenor Vale last night.
More than 1,100 supporters turned up to see former Stones striker Jermaine Beckford make his return. The prolific forward, who has just come off the transfer list, looked dangerous and had several efforts on goal which were well saved by goalkeeper Sean Thomas.
Tresor Kandol headed the visitors into the lead against the run of play.
But the Ryman Premier side levelled before the break when Kieron Forbes lashed an effort past Shane Higgs.
Wealdstone deservedly grabbed a second-half winner when striker Ross Lafiette found space and stabbed the ball into the net.
Stones manager Gordon Bartlett said: "I thought we played very well especially in the second half and our passing was nice and fluent. It all bodes well with nearly a month until the season starts. We don't want to peak too soon but it is a decent start."
