England captain Andrew Strauss was bowled out early on in the Ashes opener in Cardiff.
The Middlesex batsman only managed 30 before Australia's Mitchell Johnson took his wicket.
It left the hosts struggling on 76 for two just before lunch time with opener Alistair Cook going for only ten runs.
