Asher fires Parkfield to victory

Kaushal Asher was on fire for Parkfield and Headstone as they crushed Old Albanians in Division Five on Saturday.

The bowler marked his return to action with a sensational spell of seven for 21 in nine overs as the opposition were ripped apart.

Ian Schmid was also in fine form as he took three for six as OAs were bowled out for just 29 runs.

Parkfield were understandably confident about reaching the meagre target and they did not lose a wicket.

It took only eight overs for Raj Kanabar and Prash Nagarajan to knock off the 30 runs and complete a comprehensive win.

Parkfield return to action on Saturday against mid-table Sandridge.

The Seconds' match at Saddlers Mead against Sandridge Seconds was washed out.

But the Thirds convincingly defeated Leverstock Green Fourths in Division 12 by five wickets.

The visitors were dismissed for 125 with Vic Mayers taking four for 27 and youngster Chris Caulfield claiming three for 19.

James Ezzard showed good application after the break scoring 24 and Tim Powell’s knock of 73 helped Parkfield earn the victory from only 24 overs.

The club paid tribute to former captain Chris Emmott who returned from Chile for a friendly match on Sunday.

Emmott bowled the first over for the invitational XI. The club side batted first and managed 156 all out. But the invitational team, featuring players from Chile and Ibiza secured the win reaching 160 for six.
