Middlesex Panthers finished bottom of the South Division after their dismal defence of the Twenty20 Cup came to an end with defeat to Sussex at Lord's yesterday.
Gareth Berg top scored for the Panthers with 30 in their total of 127 for eight. But Middlesex old boy Ed Joyce was unbeaten on 41 as Sussex secured a six-wicket victory.
Two victories over the weekend gave Middlesex some belated joy in this year's competition but the Panthers finished last in their group with eight defeats from ten matches.
