Middlesex Panthers crashed to their seventh consecutive defeat in the Twenty20 Cup after losing at Hampshire last night by 28 runs.
The holders looked on course to end their losing streak when they started their innings by racking up 116 for one. But Billy Godleman (57) and Owais Shah (45) got out going for big hits and the Panthers could only manage 155 for five.
Hampshire's score of 183 for six proved good enough to consign Middlesex to another defeat in their miserable defence of the trophy.
The Panthers' next chance to put points on the board comes on Friday when they host Essex at Lord's.
