Wealdstone were beaten for the first time in nine National League South games as Oxford City put them to the sword with a 3-2 win.

Two goals inside the opening eight minutes from Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain and Zac McEachran presented Bobby Wilkinson and his side with an uphill task, and they could not quite reach the summit despite an Abobaker Eisa brace.

Reece Fleet restored their two-goals advantage after Eisa had grabbed his first, and the in-form winger again pulled the Stones back within a goal with a minute to go.

But that would be as good as it got for Wilkinson and co, with Wealdstone falling to defeat for only the second time in the league under his tenure.

The Stones were masters of their own downfall for the opener when Ryan Sellers and Jonathan North got themselves in a muddle, allowing Oxlade-Chamberlain the perfect opportunity to round the latter and slot home five minutes in.

It was two within moments when McEachran played a sharp one-two and outfoxed the visiting defence before dispatching a well-placed finish goalwards.

Mustafa Tiryaki was close to a debut goal when his header beat home goalkeeper Jack Stevens, but rebounded away off the post.

And the Stones then ramped up the pressure for the rest of the opening period, but could not find a way through until Eisa swept home Sellers' cross seven minutes before half-time.

A triple substitution by Wilkinson followed the restart but had little effect, as Wealdstone's willing but toothless attack continued to huff and puff.

Three minutes from time Fleet nodded in from a long-range free-kick, but Eisa still had time to smash home a rocket of an effort in the final seconds of normal time.

It was too much to ask the Stones to pull another rabbit out of the hat, though, and they dropped to 12th in the National League South table with defeat.
