Football is a cruel game. Without a win in five, Harrow Borough have had a tough time of it since rocketing up to the top of the Bostik Premier League with a perfect start from their first four games.

The cracks in that bright start have turned to crevices since, with an FA Cup exit and a slip down the table - but the foundations to get things back on track looked alive at Lowestoft Town on Saturday.

That was until a 95th-minute equaliser sent Steve Baker's side back to square one again, and still looking for a win which is becoming all the more elusive game by game.

Charles Banya's half-volley had put them in a commanding position from the 23rd minute in style, as the winger cut in from the right to latch onto Kurtis Cumberbatch's long ball forward and fizz a shot beyond Ben Dudzinski.

The Lowestoft goalkeeper would be busy throughout, with Harrow looking confident in the first game they have led in any competition since August 26.

Anthony O’Connor was one Boro player guilty of passing up chances to put the game to bed, but by no means the only one.

He should have given the visitors a two-goal lead after half-time but his shot, when clean through, lacked power and gave Dudzinski the chance to parry clear.

The Trawlerboys felt their opportunity would come, and looked more capable as the game entered its final stages.

But even they would have had little belief that an equaliser would come once the game entered its 95th minute.

A needless free-kick was given away as Shaun Preddie and George Moore jockeyed a Lowestoft player, and Rory McAuley headed home the delivery to spark jubilation in the hosts.

It was more a case of heartbreak for the visitors, though, as a good performance went rewarded with only a point - but there are positives at least ahead of tomorrow's clash with Wingate and Finchley at Earlsmead.
