A young Fulham side was dispatched by a solitary goal at Grosvenor Vale yesterday, as trialist Dylan Kearney did his chances of earning a contract no harm at all in Wealdstone's 1-0 win.

The Hayes and Yeading youngster's late strike proved enough in a game lacking chances and played in searing heat, but watched by a sizeable crowd of 445 in north west London.

Kearney was only a second-half substitute as manager Gordon Bartlett rotated all 11 of his starting line-up, with all of his first-team squad available except goalkeeper Jonathan North.

Bartlett deployed a 3-5-2 formation from the get go, and right wing-back for the day Eddie Oshodi flashed the first effort of the game wide on his weaker foot.

New boy Josh Hill came close to a goal on his debut but saw his shot cleared off the line by Moritz Jens, before Elliot Benyon's header was equally unlucky to miss out - as Joe Felix diverted it away from a similar position.

Three half-time changes sprung the Stones into action, with Kearney among those introduced.

On the hour mark, he came within inches of finding the opener when Abobaker Eisa, who scored twice at Bedfont Sports in midweek, beat two defenders and cut the ball back - only for Kearney's shot to strike the crossbar.

Stephen Humphrys finally forged a chance for Fulham with 15 minutes to go, but Ravan Constable had no troubles holding his low shot.

Eisa linked up well with Kearney again with the clock ticking towards full-time, forcing Felix Norman into a smart save before Ricky Wellard blasted the rebound over from 25 yards.

But within 60 seconds, the Stones had their lead. Kearney profited from some lax marking to receive the ball on the edge of the box, and never looked like turning down the invitation to pick his spot - and give Wealdstone the advantage with eight minutes to go.

Wealdstone: Constable (Bonfield 80); Okimo (Harwood 60), Hill (Mavila 60), Brown (Hippolyte-Patrick 60); Oshodi (Udoji 60), Green (Godfrey 60), Cox (Eisa 60), Benyon (Hibbert 60), Sellers (Wellard 46); Fitchett (Hunt 46), Whichelow (Kearney 46).
