Matt Wallace will be aiming to continue to make moves up the leader board as he looks set to make the final two rounds at the Rocco Forte Open in Sicily.

Playing in his first event as a European Tour professional after winning the Open de Portugal on Sunday, the Moor Park golfer carded a two-under-par round of 69 to add to yesterday’s 68 to leave him on five-under-par at the midway stage of the tournament.

The 27-year-old is in a large group in a share of 38th place at the time of writing, with the cut projected to come at four-under.

Wallace has yet to drop a shot in Italy, but after starting today’s round from the 11th he played par golf until the par five second where he made his first birdie. The Pinner-based player then made two at the par three seventh for the second round in succession to move to five-under.

Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey currently leads the tournament on 13-under, a shot clear of England’s David Horsey, South African Zander Lombard and Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg.
