Wealdstone chief executive Mark Winkworth has stepped down from his position due to ill health.

Winkworth was appointed as head of commercial affairs at the start of May but the lifelong Stones fan has been forced to step down.

Winkworth told the club website: "It is with great sadness that I have today resigned my position as chief executive officer and director of the club. It has been a privilege leading the club albeit for a relatively short period.

"I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to everyone at the club for their support and hard work, in particular the supporters who deserve the very best.

"My work commitment to the club over the past months is one which cannot be sustained, especially in the light of a long standing and debilitating medical condition.”
