Three goals in a 15-minute spell helped Wealdstone pick up their first home league win since November by beating Hayes & Yeading 3-0 on Monday evening.

Gordon Bartlett’s side hadn’t tasted success at The Vale in National League South since a 2-0 triumph over Bath City on November 21.

But they ended that run while putting seven points between themselves and the bottom three.

There were debuts for Swansea City forward James Demetriou, signed on loan earlier in the day, and the returning Nathan Mavila who started on the bench after rejoining from West Ham United.

Wealdstone were in front after eight minutes when former Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion centre-back Darren Purse put through his own net from Scott Davies’ corner.

Four minutes later the Stones doubled up. Davies strode forward and curled beyond James Hamon to put the hosts in control.

The game was effectively over as a contest when, after 21 minutes, Wealdstone added a third.

Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Jefferson Louis combined allowing Matt Harriott the time to lash home a third.

The second half was a scrappier – not helped by injury to skipper Wes Parker. That forced Johnny Wright to fill in at left-back but Stones saw out the win.

Wealdstone: Bransgrove; Urquhart, Parker (c) (Mavila HT), Hamblin, Binns; Wright, Godfrey (Ball 87), Harriott, Davies, Hudson-Odoi; Louis (Demetriou 70).

Subs: Morgan, McGleish.

Attendance: 683.
