Harrow Borough manager Steve Baker insists his side are still well ahead of schedule despite a 2-1 home defeat to Enfield Town in their Ryman Premier Division match last night.

Boro dropped down one place to fourth in the table but Baker is still delighted with their start to the campaign.

Baker said: “Regardless of this defeat it’s still been a really strong start to the season for us. We have picked up nearly two points per game which is an excellent return at any level of football. We are still ahead of where everyone expected us to be at this stage of the season.”

Enfield proved a threat during the match and opened the scoring after 39 minutes when Dernell Wynter latched onto a pass and fired past Reds goalkeeper Ben Goode.

But Boro levelled virtually straight from the restart when Marc-Charles Smith was given too much space and he placed his effort past Nathan McDonald.

The match remained in the balance during the second half but the Towners grabbed the points when Goode uncharacteristically dropped a cross and Samir Bihmoutine tapped into the net.

The Reds face a difficult trip to sixth-placed Bognor Regis Town on Saturday.
