On a day when greats of Wealdstone's past were in attendance the class of 2015 lacked cutting edge in a dour goalless draw with Chelmsford City in the National League South.

Stones' double winners of 1985 were in attendance for the game to mark the 30th anniversary of their achievements but Gordon Bartlett’s current crop could not cap the occasion with three points.

Moses Makasi curled an early effort into the hands of Jonathan North for the visitors, but in an end-to-end first half it was the hosts who carried the greater threat.

Elliott Godfrey's long-range effort forced a diving save from Clarets goalkeeper Christian Dibble, while the keeper was well positioned later in the half to hold another effort from the former AFC Wimbledon and Watford midfielder.

A forgettable half ended goalless and straight from the restart confusion in Wealdstone’s backline afforded Hugo Skepelhorn a clear sight of goal for the visitors, but he failed to hit the target.

At the other end Josh Hutchinson's volley was blocked behind for a corner by Mark Haines, while Matt Ball directed a volley off his own comfortably off target from Scott Davies' pass.

With 19 minutes left Stones produced their best move of the match as substitute Shaun Lucien latched onto a ball in the right-hand channel and crossed for Ball to volley, but Dibble flew across goal to make the save.

Neither side, though, could make the breakthrough, though, and the points were shared. The draw leaves Wealdstone in 18th with six points from their first nine games.
