Harrow Borough manager Steve Baker insists he is confident of avoiding relegation despite suffering back-to-back defeats.

The Isthmian Premier Division strugglers remain third from bottom and are four points from safety with 12 games remaining.

Two defeats in a week have not helped the Boro cause, with Saturday’s 2-0 reverse at Bognor Regis Town compounded by a 3-1 loss against direct relegation rivals Witham Town on Tuesday.

Goals from Ryan Charles, Daniel Emmanuel and Luke Callander sent Harrow to their 21st defeat of the season and cancelled out Dan Moody’s second goal following his move from Chipstead.

Baker remains upbeat though: “I am still confident that if we can add a couple more players it is do-able.

“I knew what a difficult test it was going to be to help the club up when I took over.

“We have now got to win seven or eight of 12, which is the same as it was when I took over.”

And after winning his first official game in charge, Baker has found little reason for cheer in either of Harrow’s defeats this week.

He said: “I was very disappointed with the outcome because they are one of the teams down there with us.

“The second and third goals were very cheap goals to give away and if you continue to concede goals like we did on Saturday and Tuesday or you will have major problems.”
