Harrow Borough have appointed former Chipstead manager Steve Baker as the successor to outgoing boss Dave Anderson.

Baker joins Boro from Isthmian Division One South side Chipstead - whom he has been in charge of since 2013 - and leaves in 14th place.

Anderson's final game in charge will be Tuesday's re-arranged Middlesex Senior Cup quarter-final tie against North Greenford United.

In 2009 Baker began his managerial career with former club Egham Town before moving to Beaconsfield Sycob in 2011 in a coaching role. He also had a spell with Wingate & Finchley between 2012 and 2013 and returned to management with Walton & Hersham in 2013 prior to joining Chipstead.

Baker carved out a good non-league playing career with the likes of Hayes, Yeading, Hendon, Egham Town and Chertsey Town, where he took up a player-coach role between 2003 and 2007.

He was also first-team coach at St Albans City from 2007-2008 and previously set up franchise soccer schools in conjunction with Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea.

Baker's first game in charge of Boro will be next Saturday's home clash with Wingate & Finchley.

  • Anderson's final league game in charge of Harrow ended in a 2-1 loss at Grays Athletic on Saturday. Kenny Beaney put Grays ahead from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute before Marc Charles-Smith levelled two minutes before half time. Manny Parry headed Grays back into the lead after the break, whilst Boro missed a penalty.
