Harrow Borough goalkeeper James Shea has completed a move to League 2 side AFC Wimbledon.

Shea’s superb form for the Reds last season has earned him an opportunity in the Football League.

The 23-year-old joined Dave Anderson’s side in October after a short spell with Ryman Division 1 North side Needham Market.

Shea spent six years at Arsenal from 2007 and featured in the team which won the FA Youth Cup and the Premier Academy League in 2009.

The shot stopper enjoyed loan spells with Southampton and Dagenham & Redbridge in 2011 but was recalled by the Gunners and named on the bench for their Champions League game against Montpellier.

Shea’s form for Boro last season earned him the vice-presidents’ association player of the year, players’ player of the year and the supporters’ award.

Manager Anderson described Shea as the “best young goalkeeper he has seen and a delight to work with.”

Shea is expected to vie with Ross Worner for the number one position at AFC Wimbledon next season.
