Wealdstone have made two new signings with defender Carl Martin returning to the club.

The Stones swooped for Martin four years after he left them to join Crewe Alexandra. Wealdstone also signed striker Tom Collins as they prepare for next season in the Conference South.

Manager Gordon Bartlett said: “I am delighted with Carl’s signing because he is a strong experienced professional who is comfortable on the ball and can play in numerous positions.

“He has come full circle after being involved with us as a young player, coaching in our scholarship scheme while playing in our first team before he signed for Crewe.

“He is exactly the type of player and character we have been looking for as we prepare for our new challenge in the Conference South.”

Martin made made 35 appearances for Crewe before moving on to Macclesfield Town where he made 29 starts.

Collins has Football League experience with Stockport County and Stevenage Borough. The 21-year-old striker started his career with Stevenage and has also had spells with Bishops Stortford, Tonbridge Angels and at Conference level with Hayes & Yeading and Hyde.

Goalkeeper Jonathan North has also agreed a new deal to remain at Gorsvenor Vale next season.

The shot stopper held down a regular place in the side and helped Bartlett’s side win the Ryman Premier Division title.

Wealdstone recently lost winger Glen Little after the attacker decided to move to Heybridge Swifts.
