Harrow Borough came away with a 2-2 draw from their trip to Ryman Premier play-off contenders Bury Town.

Boro took the lead, in difficult conditions, after 38 minutes when Jon-Jo Bates chased down a through ball and fired into the net.

But Sam Nunn headed in the equaliser for the hosts on the hour mark.

Bury Town took the lead when Lee Smith converted at the far post.

But Boro salvaged a point when stand-in striker Michael Barima hit a superb 20-yard strike after 84 minutes.

It looked like the hosts would claim the win late on when Lee Reed hit a volley but it was superbly blocked on the line by Marcus Rose.

Reds boss Dave Anderson said: “It was very pleasing to score two goals. Jon-Jo and Michael both got on the scoresheet so this and the overall team performance was a real positive.”

Boro return to action this weekend at home to Carshalton Athletic. They are currently languishing in 15th place but the Boro manager believes the opposition are unlikely to remain in this lowly position for long.

Anderson said: “Carshalton have got a very big budget and I would have to say they’re in a false position.

“However I do feel that our squad is starting to look comfortable and I’m much happier with how it is looking.”
