Richard Jolly scored a hat-trick as Wealdstone thrashed Banbury United 4-0 in their FA Trophy replay.

The Stones battled to a goalless draw in the away match on Saturday but were far too strong for Banbury in Tuesday's return game at Grosvenor Vale. Wealdstone’s reward is a home game against Uxbridge in the first round on Saturday, December 10.

Manager Gordon Bartlett said: “The difference between the two games was our energy levels were not good enough on Saturday. But on Tuesday we got more possession, looked bright and passed the ball very well.

“When you play sides who are equal or of a lesser standing at home you have to take advantage.

“On paper, Uxbridge at home doesn’t look a bad draw but they have won 13 of their last 15 games. All you can ask for is a home draw.”

Wealdstone were never in danger of losing the replay after taking the lead through Chris O’Leary after 19 minutes.

The midfielder, who recently returned from a short spell at St Albans City, received the ball from Peter Dean’s flick on and volleyed past visiting goalkeeper Andrew Kemp.

O’Leary turned provider for the Stones a couple of minutes later when he threaded a pass through to Jolly and the striker calmly fired past Kemp.

Wealdstone almost added a third goal shortly afterwards when Dean struck a powerful shot which was pushed away by Kemp.

Banbury created their first decent opportunity seven minutes before the break when Will Green fired over the bar from 20 yards.

Bartlett’s team killed off the tie three minutes into the second half when Alex Dyer pulled the ball back for Jolly to sidefoot his effort past Kemp.

It should have been 4-0 minutes later but Nikki Ahamed somehow poked the ball wide from close range.

But their final goal of the game came when Scott McCubbin played in Jolly to complete his hat-trick.

The Stones travel to struggling Concord Rangers this weekend hoping to repeat their 6-1 win from last season.
