Any hopes of a Middlesex victory in County Championship Two against Northamptonshire were ended by the rain at Uxbridge yesterday.
Both sides had to settle for a draw after 32 overs were lost over the course of the day. Ben Scott's career best knock of 164 helped set a target of 365 for victory for the visitors.
But Northamptonshire were never really in any danger of losing as they reached 176 for three before play was halted at 5pm.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders have made a short term loan signing 22-year-old Mark Lawson for a month from Yorkshire. The leg spinner will provide cover as Middlesex face a busy run of games including the clash with South Africa starting tomorrow.
