Watford will face FC Cologne in a pre-season friendly in Austria, the German club have confirmed.

Cologne head to Kitzbuhel in Austria for a pre-season training camp on July 12 and will take on Watford six days later (kick-off 6.30pm local time).

With away games against Stevenage and Brentford scheduled for July 27 and 28 respectively, the Hornets’ pre-season schedule is beginning to take shape.

They will also play a yet to be announced opponent on August 4 in the Graham Taylor Matchday.

Watford are still to name the destination for their pre-season training camp, but the meeting with Cologne taking place in Austria suggests they are set to return to the country they used last summer.

Cologne are preparing for life in the second tier of German football after getting relegated from the Bundesliga last season.

They finished bottom of the table after picking up just 22 points from their 34 league outings in a season which also saw them compete in the Europa League.
