Igor Coronado would be a positive signing for Watford according to the club’s former transfer consultant Nicola Salerno.

The Hornets have been linked with a move for the Palermo midfielder in the past, most recently in March when a summer time swoop was mooted.

Speaking to media in Italy, Salerno, who worked for Watford as recently as 2016, claimed the Brazilian would fit in well at the club.

Salerno said: “He is a strong player. The facts say it. The numbers give reason. He would do well everywhere and he already knows English football.”

The 25-year-old’s experience of playing in England arrived in the infancy of his career as he came through the MK Dons academy before going on to play at Banbury United.

A productive 2017/18 season saw Coronado star for Palermo as he scored nine goals and laid on 10 assists to help the Serie B side to a fourth-place finish.

He holds duel citizenship in the form of an Italian passport and would therefore not require a work permit to complete a move to Watford.
