Watford youngster Charlie Rowan got his first taste of glory as Accrington Stanley gained promotion to League One on Tuesday night.

A 2-0 win over Yeovil Town was enough to secure Stanley’s ascension to the third tier of English football for the first time in the club’s history.

Billy Kee scored both goals for Accrington to take his league tally for the season to 24 and leave Stanley 11 points clear of fourth at the summit of the table.

With a four point advantage over second-placed Luton Town, there could yet be further joy for Stanley as they look to seal the title in their final four games of the season.

While Rowan, who has been on loan at Stanley since January, is yet to feature for the Wham Stadium side, he will surely have benefitted from the experience of being around a successful promotion bid.

The 20-year-old took to twitter to share his joy at seeing his loan side make it into League One.
