Etienne Capoue has put pen to paper on a new Watford contract, tying him to the club until 2022.

The France international joined the Hornets for around £6 million from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 and has gone on to make 92 appearances so far for the club.

At 29 the contract is likely to be among the central midfielder’s last major deals and comes after a strong run of form in recent weeks.

Capoue has enjoyed playing in a deeper role under Javi Gracia and, despite being a divisive figure among supporters, has been a first team regular throughout his three years at Vicarage Road.
