Richarlison has heaped praise of Javi Gracia and says Watford’s players are willing to do whatever it takes to impress their head coach.

The Spaniard took over from Marco Silva in January and has helped stabilise Watford’s Premier League form by taking four points from his first three games.

Having joined Watford under Silva’s stewardship, Richarlison has been suitably impressed with what he has seen from the Portuguese’s successor.

“It has been really good so far,” he told Sky Sports. “He explained to us how he likes his team to play and we listened.

“Everybody likes him and everybody is excited to play for him. He already has the group under control and whoever he picks will be willing to give whatever it takes to win.”

Richarlison’s glowing appraisal of Gracia will be particularly heartening to the new Watford boss considering the Brazilian winger’s close relationship with Silva.

The 20-year-old has made no secret of his respect for Silva who he credits with helping him adapt to the English game and make a flying start to life at Vicarage Road.

“He helped me a lot at the start,” he said. “He is Portuguese so it was easy to communicate. He could explain things to me as I was adapting.

“He always told me in order to succeed in the Premier League, you need a high level of physical fitness and good positional sense. Those are the things that I have worked on very hard on a daily basis.”

While life on the pitch has suited Richarlison down to the ground in England he has faced one test away from football, namely the weather.

“The only challenge is the weather,” he said. “We Brazilians are used to really warm weather and a lot of sun, so it is tough being in temperatures of minus one, but everything is going well.

“Life is great here. I have my agent and two friends living here with me, which is nice.

"My team-mates support me in training and I get on really well with them off the pitch too.”
