Harrow finally picked up a first win since August in surprisingly comfortable style to beat in-form Wingate 3-0 at Earlsmead last night.

Borough nearly led with nine seconds on the clock but still took only 12 minutes to do so, with Charles Banya ending a 30-yard run with a smart finish from 12 yards.

Sean Cronin set up Ahmed Rifat for what looked a certain equaliser just before the break only for his miss to prove immediately costly, when a Reuben Rabstein flap from Kurtis Cumberbatch's corner let Adam Richards score a second - not that he knew much about it.

Taurean Roberts made it three 64 minutes in, with Banya again at the heart of it, driving forward before squaring the ball for him to score his first goal for the club.

Steve Baker named one change from Saturday's draw, with Anthony O'Connor replaced by Roberts - a move which would prove fruitful.

Straight from the kick-off Reis Stanislaus' tenth-second drive from the edge of the box was tipped over by Rabstein.

The rapid start continued as Banya, later named man of the match, drove home from 12 yards after a run from deep leaving the Wingate stopper helpless.

Before the weekend Harrow had not even led a game since late August, and doing so twice in four days built their confidence immeasurably.

Michael Bryan found Stanislaus whose near-post shot was saved and Banya had a free-kick saved by Rabstein, before his blushes for missing a one-on-one were saved by the linesman's flag.

Wingate came close to levelling when Rifat fired over from close range, but it was a port in the storm for the visitors as Harrow then deservedly added another.

Roberts' 12-yard shot took a deflection which could have wrong-footed Rabstein, but instead saw him pull off a superb save.

The corner which followed would not be his finest hour, though, and he flapped at Cumberbatch's delivery, which took it into the net via the unwitting but grateful Richards.

Melvin Minter made two saves after the break before Harrow killed any hope of a contest with a third.

Banya drove forward from the right, cut inside and squared for Roberts, who finished well for his first Harrow goal.

Wingate still pushed, to their credit, but had been poor on the night and could not find a way back, instead Harrow coming close to adding another goal when Stanislaus and Banya both missed.
