New Watford head coach Marco Silva would not confirm whether he wants to keep Steven Berghuis at Vicarage Road after this afternoon's friendly loss at AFC Wimbledon.
The Dutchman was on the scoresheet at Kingsmeadow as the Hornets almost rescued a draw in their opening pre-season game, only for an 89th-minute winner from Alfie Egan to snatch the victory.
There has been plenty of speculation over the winger's future this summer on the back of a season-long loan at Feyenoord last season, and he has spent only six of his 18 months as a Watford player at Vicarage Road.
And Silva is not ready to publicly give his backing to keep the Netherlands international with the Hornets, although it appears he does have time to impress his new boss.
When asked about Berghuis' future, he said: "During pre-season, should I need to see and analyse how our players are in training in matches, and after that I will take my decision."
