Wealdstone have plucked two youngsters from lower down the football pyramid to join the club ahead of the new season.

Benji Crilley and Abobaker Eisa have joined the club from seventh-tier Chesham United and eighth-tier Uxbridge respectively.

Crilley, a former Luton Town youth player, is a right-sided defender, but capable of playing anywhere along the back, and may fill a hole vacated by the departed Tom Hamblin, who last week confirmed he would be leaving Grosvenor Vale to join Hemel Hempstead Town.

Eisa is a left-winger who scored 19 goals for the west London club last season - and is also currently undertaking a degree in Biomedical Science at Brunel University.

Manager Gordon Bartlett told the club website: “I think that both these youngsters have what it takes to flourish at the higher level.

“They are hungry players and we have plucked them from lower down the pyramid and we are very hopeful that they will progress with us in the same way that Ciaron Brown did so well last season.”

Off the pitch, club director Quentin Fox has decided to leave his position on the Stones’ board, after 26 years of service with the club.

Chairman Peter Marsden and his fellow directors paid their thanks to Fox in a statement.
