Herts Sunday Junior Cup Quarter-Final

Bell Rangers were left wondering how they exited the County Junior Cup after suffering a 5-3 home defeat to Southbury despite dominating most of the game, missing a twice-taken penalty and seeing their opponents play the majority of the tie with just ten men.

Southbury went ahead inside the first ten minutes, but Bell were given an ideal chance to level when a penalty was awarded and their opponents were reduced to ten men in the same incident.

Zack Marshall saw his penalty saved but a re-take was ordered but the same player saw his second effort strike the inside of the post and bounce away.

Bell dominated the game for the majority of the first half but failed to make the most of several good chances. The pattern continued after the break but 20 minutes into the half Bell drew level when Callum O'Connor scored following a through ball from George Kus.

Pushing forward, Bell were caught on the break twice in as many minutes to find themselves 3-1 behind, but the tie was not yet over as Rangers railed, scoring first through Kus and then a minute later James Alexander equalised with a header.

There looked to be only one winner as the game entered the closing stages, but once again Bell were caught out on the counter-attack as Southbury scored twice in the dying minutes to reach the last four.
