Derby County have made a bid for Watford striker Matej Vydra.

The Hornets have received an offer from the Championship club but it is understood no decision has been made on the bid.

Vydra started Tuesday night's home defeat to Gillingham in the EFL Cup and was given a warm reception from the fans after being substituted.

It was his first start under Walter Mazzarri and the Hornets head coach refused to offer assurances on his future.

But Mazzarri said: "There are probably one or two players that will come but I’m not making anyone leave.

"If some of the players want to leave because they’re not getting enough playing time then it’s up to them."
