Harrow Borough never recovered from shipping three goals in the first ten minutes at Metropolitan Police on Tuesday evening and eventually lost 3-2.

Defeat, the Reds’ third on the spin, leaves Steve Baker’s side 17th in the Isthmian Premier Division – 11 points above the relegation zone.

Boro fell behind when Tom Hickey picked up an attempted clearance for the home side before arrowing a shot into the corner of the net past a helpless Brendan Hazlett.

Joe Turner then curled a shot just wide of the far post before making it 2-0 in the fourth minute from inside the penalty area; once again a Harrow clearance failed to relieve the danger.

In the ninth minute the home side came forward again and the ball was transferred to Andre Da Costa, who had time to set himself and guide the ball past Hazlett to make it 3-0.

The game was not ten minutes old but it was already realistically over as a contest.

Having conceded three, four and five in the previous three games, there was a serious fear at half-time that the sequence could be extended.

Harrow’s Lewis Driver set up Marc Charles-Smith who forced Metropolitan Police goalkeeper Ollie Pain into his first save of the night with a low shot.

After a far more even second half the game went into stoppage-time with the score still 3-0, but it was to take another turn.

George McCluskey’s throw from the left was gathered by Harry Newman, who sent substitute Fejiri Okenabirhie in on goal.

He was tackled but the ball fell to Spencer McCall who curled a shot past Pain for what appeared to be a consolation.

However, Harrow quickly won the ball after Met kicked off and attacked again.

Joshua Webb curled in a lovely cross from the right and McCall stole in beyond the far post to hook the ball in to the roof of the net.

The Met defence, which had looked in control, were now panicking but the visitors’ revival was quickly ended when the final whistle was blown.

Harrow now travel to face Grays Athletic on Saturday.
