Harrow Hockey Club hit six without reply against an overawed Witney on Saturday to increase their stranglehold at the top of the table.

Goals from Callum Redpath, Subra Nashiappan, Sartajeet Singh, Govind Grewal and a Colin Jones double sealed the emphatic win.

Harrow are six points clear at the top of the Middlesex, Berkhamsted, Buckinhgamshire and Oxon Division Four.

Their next game comes in two weeks in a home tie with mid-table West Hampstead.

Grewal got the ball rolling with an accurate finish to end his personal goal drought that had lasted over a month and make the score 1-0 early on.

Harrow then pulled away from Witney at speed as Collins scored either side of a sweeping counter attack goal from Redpath and a clever dinked effort from Nashiappan.

Jones’ goals, which came in either half, were of the highest quality. First he struck a powerful drive into the bottom corner and then he flicked a penalty corner into the roof of the net.

With Witney on the ropes Singh completed the scoring with a delightful sidestep and accurate finish.

Harrows Ladies enjoyed similar success as they beat PHC Chiswick 3-1 thanks to goals from Poppy Marshall, Kerri Lendon and Holly Redpath.

Marshall opened the scoring after an interception in midfield allowed her to run free and beat the goalkeeper from a tight angle.

Lendon then showed her prowess from a short corner and drilled a well placed shot home before Redpath added a third in the second half.

Despite the dominant display Harrow owed a lot to the work of goalkeeper and player of the match Paula Redpath who made a string of excellent saves.

The result sees Harrow maintain second place and ahead of a local derby against Eastcoast this weekend.
