The ‘Invincibles’ of Pinner RFC are one victory away from winning the Middlesex Merit Table Five after thumping Hampstead Fifths 42-5 at home on Saturday.

There are only two league fixtures remaining which means if Pinner win one of their last two they will secure top spot.

Unbeaten Pinner ruthlessly cut Hampstead’s defence to ribbons with three quick-fire tries in the game’s opening minutes.

A try apiece from Andrew Alexander, Alex Dixon and Rohan Desai gave the hosts a commanding 21-0 lead as they pressed home an early advantage to leave Hampstead on the rocks.

Wave upon wave of Pinner attacks crashed upon the helpless visitors and the bonus point was secured when full-back Nial Curran dived over, again converted by Chris Jepsen to effectively end the contest.

Having taken control of the game, Pinner were guilty of relaxing somewhat and allowed Hampstead to hit back when Leo York burst through a lacklustre defence to make it 28-5 before half time.

In recent weeks Pinner have come on strong in the second half and they repeated the trick against Hampstead.

After a lull in pressure from the hosts, they moved through the gears with number eight Andrew Alexander muscling his way over before Curran added his second soon after.

Jepsen converted both tries to bring his personal tally to 12 points with a flawless kicking display which enabled Pinner to rack up their 13th consecutive victory.
