Wealdstone left-back Jerome Okimo has agreed a move to League Two side Stevenage.

Okimo's transfer means he will join up with former Stones forward Tom Pett and is expected to go straight into their first-team squad.

Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett said: "We are all delighted for Jerome who thoroughly deserves to be a pro. At 26, he probably felt his chance had gone but his attitude, pace, strength and all round qualities were a massive part of our title winning side last season and it was bound to get noticed.

"Losing two players to the professional ranks is a big blow to the squad and maybe we have have been victims of our own success."

Bartlett added: "The timing of his departure has not helped preparations and I have turned away two very good left backs in the past few weeks knowing that Jerome had already signed.

"He will be difficult to replace but we must look on this positively as we have helped yet another player to achieve his person ambition of full time football. I believe Jerome has all the attributes to do extremely well and with Tom Pett settling in well they could both have an immediate impact."
