Bessborough claimed their first victory of the season after beating Osterley by 114 runs in Middlesex Championship Division One.

Osterley won the toss and put Bessborough into bat. Overseas wicket-keeper Jigar Shah was promoted to opener and the newcomer delivered the goods with partnerships of 67 with Talha Junaid (25) and 65 with Ian Barrie (64) on his way to a season’s best of 77.

Bessborough declared after 50 overs on 231 for six.

Hosts Osterley got off to a fast start. But the game changed dramatically in the eighth over which cost 16 runs and saw Akshay Hirani (three for 34) remove both openers.

Bessborough were on a roll and they picked up another six cheap wickets before the 20th over. Amrit Ryatt did most of the damage with four for 40.

Bessborough sealed the win when Osterley were dismissed for 117 in 44 overs.

In Division Three, Bessborough Seconds defeated North London Seconds by 95 runs after bowling them out for just 86.

Bessborough Thirds were beaten by seven wickets by Wycombe House in Middlesex 1987 Division One.
